Which schools give enough aid?

So I recently found that while making my college list, I wasn't really thinking too much about aid because most of them were privates. However, I know UCB and UCLA do not give enough aid to OOS students because they are obviously public. Right now my list consists of:

Brown
Columbia
UChicago
UPenn
Yale
NYU
UCLA
UCB
Rice

Which of these schools would be able to give me a good amount of aid? Is there any possibility that UCLA and Berkeley would actually be affordable for OOS (should I even apply?) Thanks!

How much can your family pay? Did you run the net price calculators for these?

For uc, there is a 23k per year oos tuition extra that you won’t get aid for. So that plus EFC will be you minimum amt you will have to pay.

The others meet need so if you can pay what they say is family contribution you are good.

eXCEPT NYU, which does not meet need for many, and getting gapped is the reality.

Agreeing with BrownParent. You’ll likely need to drop the UCs and definitely NYU. Depending on how much aid you need, the hard part will likely be finding matches and especially safeties. There are lots of reaches with great aid along the lines of the ones you’ve listed. Run the NPCs!

Go to each school’s web site and look for the net price calculator to get a financial aid estimate for you for that school.

Berkeley (OOS), UCLA (OOS), and NYU are unlikely to be affordable on need-based aid. There are some large merit scholarships, but they should be considered super-reach.

What are your stats?
What’s your parents’ budget?
What’s in-state for you?
