Which schools in California have great computer science program and how would you guys rank those in order?

Berkeley, UCLA, UCSD, UC Irvine, Stanford - no particular order

Stanford
Caltech
Berkeley
Harvey Mudd College
UCSD

It makes even less sense to try to rank undergraduate CS departments than it does to rank history or economics. Any decent school will more or less follow the ACM curriculum model and offer pretty much the same courses, maybe even taught with the same textbooks.

What sets them apart is graduate level research, or, at the undergrad level, all the other factors that make certain schools, overall, more attractive than others. In other words: choose the college, not the CS department.
