I have just started my junior year in a Californian high school. My current grade is very competitive, and the program I am in itself is very rigorous/competitive. Although I finished by freshman year with about a 3.85 (4.0 weighted)unweighted GPA, I completely dropped that in sophomore year with an average unweighted 3.01 GPA (3.7 weighted). I had two C’s in English and AP physics C sophomore year and it was very tough (I was also somewhat lazy).
Freshman year APs: World History (3)
Sophomore year APS: Ap physics c e&M (2) AP physics c mechanics (3) AP calc ab (4) ap environmental science (4)
EC’s : CyberPatriot (computer competition) 3 years, Model United Nations (2 years), Elementary school science volunteer (3 years). Volunteer piano at church since 7th grade now; not planning on stopping until senior year. (church was small, poor, in need of a pianist)
Although many of my activities are science/math based, I want to major in International Studies. Over the summer, I attended NSLC (not the best i could do it was pay-based program and overall just very overpriced) at American University for the National security and intelligence program. It’s my junior year, and I know I have to perform better to show the upward trend in my gpa. I have just started school, but im planning to take sat in october and sat 2 korean and sat 2 math this semester as well. I am also conflicted about more ecs. I am contemplating over basketball (jv), an la police department volunteer/internship, and I would like some advice on which ones i should take or any other ones that would help me in my application. Im also enrolled in 5 ap classes now (ap us hist, ap calc bc, ap chemistry, ap english lang, and ap comp sci). So assuming that i get an average 3.85 gpa this semester, get 3s , 4 s, and 5s on my aps, and a 1500 + on my sat, and perfects on my sat 2s, which international studies colleges am i qualified for? I’m slightly interested in american and georgetown university, but I am open to other options that can get me working in government agencies (nsa, cia, nia, fbi)
