I was thinking the following (but I don't know which ones I actually can get into based on my stats):

UC Berkeley Engineering
UC San Diego
UC Los Angeles
UC Davis
Caltech
Cal Poly - SLO

Good list, you are a reach for Cal Tech, and maybe a (very slight) reach for UCB & UCLA as well. The rest are probably easy acceptances.

I think your scores are perhaps a bit low for UCB & UCLA but your GPA is very high and your ECs look nice. You will probably get in to both, but it's not an "easy in".

What are my shots at getting into the Berkeley Engineering program? I'm under the impression that it's somewhat easy to get into Berkeley itself, but trying to get into their College of Engineering is TOUGH.

What are my weakest points? I know my AP scores are low, and my SAT Math score isn't exactly spectacular, but is there anything else?

Well, your SATs are below average for Berkeley engineering, the question is how much so. I don't know the answer to that question. You will also need some SAT IIs. Those will be critical in gaining acceptance. To be sure admit I'd think a 2200+ and two 750+ SAT IIs (IIC & a science). Your ECs are nice, and depending on your involvement in your robotics club that might be enough to gain admittance by itself. Cal engineering doesn't release their statistics though.

It depends on which discipline of engineering that you are interested in at Berkeley. The average SAT isn't that high. You have high GPA, decent SAT, you just have to write decent essays and you'll get into Cal Engineering. As it had been said before, you'd want to get get some SAT 2 scores. Preferably 800 on IIC.

Looks like a match for USC. Possible scholarship money too, if your essay, recs, and SAT II''s are good as well.

Though, given how the admissions standards are going up, could be slight reach as well.

Azure326:

UCB/UCLA: Slight Reach (Engineering)
UCSD: Match (Engineering)
UCD: Safety

Blah, I didn't do so well on my SAT II's:

Biology M: 740
Math IIC: 720

What are my chances now? Do you guys think I should re-take Math IIC for the December test?

Azure326:

UCB/UCLA: Slight Reach (Engineering)
UCSD: Match (Engineering)
UCD: Safety

flopsy - No difference, eh? Guess I gotta hope that I REALLY do well on the math portion of the SAT's tomorrow (700/720 on math is still low for Berkeley Engineering, right? I need to get at least 750 to have a good chance at Berkeley, right?).

Also, what exactly do you mean by "match" and "slight reach"? (I'm not sure how to interpret what you're saying since I don't know what would be a "slight reach")

With your stats as they are currently I think you have a 25% chance to get into UCB & 35% chance to get into UCLA.

Yikes, that bad? So, "very slight reach" means ~25% chance?

Considering your SAT II scores I'm not sure I would consider you a "very slight reach".

UCSD is more like a safety. UCSD admissions is a lot easier than most people make it out to be. So, don't worry about UCSD and other lower tier UC's. You're in.

As for Cal and UCLA, you just have to pull through with your SAT II's. December is your last chance. 800 on IIC is not that hard considering the curve is 7 or 8 questions. Just do your practices and you'll be fine.

Mr Payne - So a "normal" reach or a somewhat large "reach"?

So, should I sign up for SAT II's for Decemeber rather than SAT I's (Just took the Reasoning for the second time today; I've only taken the SAT II's once)?

HMC and Olin as well.

HMC-Slight Reach - Test scores are a bit low.
Olin- see above

Okay, I just got my ACT Scores:

English: 35
Math: 30
Reading: 32
Science: 35
Composite: 33

How does this change things?

Azure326:

UCB/UCLA: Slight Reach (Engineering)
UCSD: Match (Engineering)
UCD: Safety

Blah, I just found out that I put in the wrong GPA the whole time. That's my school GPA. My "UC" weighted GPA is 4.27 (unweighted it's 3.9).

Just got in my new SAT scores:

CR: 690
Math: 770
Writing: 790

Does this help? I'm taking the MATH IIC exam this Saturday again.
