<p>Good luck to you chips! My daughter was admitted to Humbolt as well some other CSs. Did you visit? we did. The science programs seem very strong. Every class we observed on our tour looked interesting. Students involved in some type of hands on activity: seismic mapping, dissecting dead birds. Observed one big lecture 60+, 80% of the kids seemed to be paying attention–a few face-bookers, on-line shoppers. The downside was…how do I put this…I think our tour guide was high. And the weather!! the campus smelt like wet dog. Did not visit the dorms. I think if you are in science type major, it’s a good school. The drive is up from SoCal is horrendous. The price is right.<br>
I wanted D to apply to northern Az because of the western states tution discount. She did not apply and we did not visit (Applied to UA and nice privates and is in with merit $$) I can’t supply any first hand info on No Az. I would suggest that you gas-up @ 4.09 per gallon and go for a road trip.</p>
