I'm in the national merit scholarship competition (probably going to be a semifinalist but I don't officially find out until the fall) and I need to notify two schools. Do any of the schools on my list have scholarships or anything for national merit scholars?

Harvard
Princeton
Dartmouth
Duke
Williams
Amherst
Notre Dame
Georgetown
UVA
Davidson
Boston College
Wake Forest
Providence

BUMP IT. Becuase I want to know too =)

Harvard- No
Princeton- No
Dartmouth- No
Duke- No
Williams- No
Amherst- No
Notre Dame- No
Georgetown- No
UVA- No
Davidson- Yes ($750-2000)
Boston College- Yes
Wake Forest- Yes ($1-2000)
Providence- No

Which ever one give you the most money

From the post above it looks like Wake Forest

Which ever schools you pick at this point will have little or no impact on your admission or the merit money that you get. This is not something to worry about.

Do you have links to the bc/davidson/wake forest websites where it talks about the scholarships? Because I’ve been looking but I can’t find anything about them

I vote Princeton and Davidson

Davidson recently eliminated loans from their financial aid packages and meets 100% of your financial aid WITHOUT loans

Don’t waste your time. Michigan State University is the best alternative.

MSU National Merit Scholarship
Awarded to National Merit Finalists who name MSU as their first-choice institution; $750 to $2,000 annually, depending on financial need; those receiving $2,000 nonrenewable awards are guaranteed supplemental awards from $250 to $1,500 annually, renewable for eight semesters**.

Merit Recognition Scholarship
Awarded to non-Michigan residents who are National Merit Finalists and name MSU as their first-choice institution; includes $4,000 annually plus room and board in an MSU residence hall (double occupancy in an MSU residence hall and silver meal plan; students with sophomore academic standing or higher, who have lived for a minimum of one year in an MSU residence hall, are eligible to live in an on-campus apartment and receive the residence hall double occupancy award plus the silver meal plan, based on space and class standing; off-campus housing is not included in this award), renewable for eight semesters**.

MSU Special Merit Scholarship

I don’t see how, considering that Davidson, Wake, and BC offer equivalent scholarships and are superior colleges.

If the OP wanted to add random colleges to his list, it would make more sense to add a university like USC, which gives half-tuition to NMFs.

At alabama, national merit finalist gets you:
tuition for 4 years
housing for 4 years
$1000 stipend per year
one time $2000 allowance for research or international study
a laptop

Granted, that the University of Alabama, so it’s very different from your Harvards/Yales/etc., but it worked out well for me.

Clemson University has a similar program as Alabama called the National Scholars Program, 4 year tuition/housing for free, free study abroad program to the UK, free laptop
