alright...i'm going to be a freshman at CC in the fall, and I want to apply for transfer to a variety of 4yr schools (no ivy league or anything like that, a couple of upper tier LACs, but otherwise nothing extreme). my question being, what science class would be best specifically for the upper tier LACs? I have a choice of Introductory Chem (probably not), General Chemistry and General Biology. Scheduling conflicts makes it impossible for me take physics. i know the chemistry involves more difficult math, so i just wanted to know if this would be my best bet?

ok, and what science courses should one take for the upper tier ivys?

Chemistry doesn't involve dificult math, just basic algebra, plug #s into equations and solve.

General chem involves a little memorizing and a little bit of analytical thinking.

Bio involves a lot more memorizing.

I really don't think it makes a chance which one u choose.

There are diffent kinds of science classes offered.

For example there bio for bio majors and bio for non science majors.

Those are the biggest difference.

there is calc based physics and trig based physics.

Stuff like that. take what u enjoy and what will give u highest grades

I've been a lurker for a very long time and just recently conjured the guts to post. In response to the question, look at some of the course offerings at schools you are considering, and try and take courses that are similar and therefore have a better chance of transferring, especially if you're not a science major. I think it would suck to have to retake a class (if its not in your area of interest) to satisfy distribution requirements or something.
I have a somewhat related question: A lot of the transfer admission websites at Ivy League schools mention that applicants should have completed coursework in a little bit of everything. I'm a rising sophomore and I've taken classes in a variety of subjects but none in science. Would this be considered a weakness in the eyes of some of these schools (some of my worst grades in high school were in science; although in APs)? For reference, I'm mostly talking about Harvard, Brown, or maybe Yale (I realize guessing at criteria for some of these schools is a somewhat useless task)
Thanks for the help.

I took BOTANY.... its a cool class, easy A

Take Astronomy.

well...there's another option that i have for a science class...it's an integrated science class...physics, astronomy and chemistry. i thought it looked interesting, but i wasn't sure if i should take something like a general science class which..i guess is harder or if an introductory would be ok.
