This fall I will be applying to several schools for Mechanical Engineering. I'm sure I will be accepted to most of the state schools but if I wanted to better my chances of being accepted into more prestigious schools, should I send my SAT or ACT scores, or still both?

SAT: 1840
690 in math.
Taking subject tests in October.

ACT: 29
32 in math.

Any advice is appreciated.

[ACT (test) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia](<a href=“ACT (test) - Wikipedia”>ACT (test) - Wikipedia)

According to Wikipedia, a 29 is slightly stronger, but you may want to push your math score to a 35-36.

Don’t listen to that^. Obviously a 36 would be ideal for anyone but that is hardly realistic in this case. Telling someone to get a perfect score isn’t very helpful. As for your scores, since they’re about the same, you could send the ACT to the schools in the midwest, and the SAT to the schools on the east/west coast? Just an idea! Sending both probably woudn’t hurt your chances. Try talking to your counselor and find out what is best for you. Good luck!
