Majority of my schools require me to send either SAT + two Subject Tests OR ACT + Writing.
Which scores should I send?

Option 1:
SAT
CR / M / W / Total
620 / 650 / 670 / 1950
Subject Tests
Lit - 620
US History - 600

Option 2:
ACT
E / M / R / S / W / Comp
34 / 26 / 27 / 22 / ? / 27

Although my overall SAT score is higher than my ACT score, my subject test scores are pretty bad…Plus, it'll cost more to send SAT AND subject test scores to a bunch of schools. Also, keep in mind that I'm applying as an English major, and a 34 on the ACT English is decent.

The College Board charges one fee per college, not per test taken. So, you can send scores from as many sittings as you wish all for the same fee. And, unless the college requires that you send all testing history, you do not need to submit your SAT II scores. There aren’t all that many schools that require sending all scores, so you may be able to only send SAT I scores. CB allows you to pick and choose when you log in to order score reports.

Thanks for the info about score-sending fees! Very helpful!

And the schools I’m applying to require that you send your best two subject test scores if you send the SAT. The alternative is the ACT. So looking at the overall package of both options, which will give me the best chance?

I would send in both SAT and ACT to your highly considered schools, because you do want them to see that you excel in both SAT and ACT, and that you’re strong in English. For the alternative method your posted, you should send it to schools that are less competitive.

It really depends on that type of school that you’re applying. Some schools are more important than others on your list, so you will have to approach those important schools differently.
