I'm a transfer app for fall 2008. I've been in college less than one year. The highest I've gotten on the act was 24. I took that in high school. I'm taking one that's coming up very soon and I'm confident I'll do a lot better. Can I send the one from coming up or do I have to send the 24?

which school are you applying for??

for the act, you can choose which scores to send, but for the sat, all scores are automatically sent. is that what you are asking?

Stern.

It's confusing because NYU is a dick. They only accept scores from high school, even for transfer students. They also ask for the SAT scores and encourage you send them, but if you haven't taken them they don't want you to take them, which seems like an automatic rejection.

Now they also state you can't send in scores if you've been in college for more than one year, but you also are allowed to send scores only from high school...

So which one is it?

All scores of tests you've taken while in h/s should be sent. What they are saying is that there is no point in taking further tests if you've already enrolled in college.

The thing is I've been in college for less then 1 year...

manny,

Here is the official answer from the Admission Office b/b:

If you took the SAT I, SAT II or ACT exams when in high school, you are required to release your official test scores to NYU from the testing agencies. However, if you are currently in college and have completed more then one year of undergraduate course work you should not take the SAT or ACT exam now for the first time. We will not consider standardized test scores from exams you took while already enrolled in college. Similarly, if you participated in these exams while in high school but are considering taking them again in college these scores will also not be considered.

If you have been in college less then one year and did not participate in these exams in high school you SHOULD plan on taking them before applying for admission.

If you previously took the SAT exam it is NOT necessary to take the new SAT Reasoning Test for admission as a transfer student.

YEAHHHHHHHHHHH!

Thanks momma. That means my SAT score can make up for my shiddy ACT score.

whoop there it is!

a wiki wiki wow wow

(i hope i interpreted that correctly)
