Which scores to send?!?!

Hi everyone,

I’m a senior in high school and I took the old SATs in January of my junior year. The scores from that are the ones I have been sending to colleges so far (2240: 740 M, 700 CR, 800 W).

I also took the ACTs this September and October. I just got my October scores back and they are 35 E, 29 M, 35 R, 32 S (Composite: 33). So I’m wondering if I should also send these to colleges as well… The 35 on reading is a lot better than my 700 on SAT reading, but I do not want the 29 on math to hurt my chances of getting in anywhere…

And if I do end up sending my October ACT scores, should I send my September ACT scores too? I’m not as happy with those but a couple of the sections are higher–the composite is 32 and the subsections are 36 E, 30 M, 31 R, and 31 S. The superscore across the two is a 33 though, so it wouldn’t help except for having slightly higher English and Math sections.

I’m applying to some highly selective colleges and I plan on majoring in computer science, so I do not want my math score–or any scores in general–to hurt my chances. Thanks in advance for your advice!

2240 = 33 so it’s a toss up. If you are looking to Comp Sci, a strong math score is probably more important than a strong CR score, so I’d send the SAT.

2240 in SAT is 34 in ACT, and 33 in ACT is 2180 in SAT, so you gotta send 2240 SAT

SAT is enough. Don’t open the door by showing a 29 in Math. Your SAT scores are strong enough to get the check box at elite universities in that category. Now work on your essays!
