Which scores to send?

Hi! I’m in a dilemma and need some insight. I’m apply to CSU’s and UC’s in California. I have a 1220 SAT (new) score and the 2 other scores dropped to 1180 (that’s really bad, I know). My ACT score is 25, which is roughly similar to my highest SAT score. I just took the October ACT and should get a higher score. My essay score for the SAT is very high and mediocre for the ACT with writing. I’m apply as a Neuroscience major (UC’s) and Biochemistry major (CSU’s).

Both school systems require that I send all scores. Would it benefit me to send both SAT and ACT scores? If not, then which one should I send and why? Thank you so much!

CSU’s will superscore so they will take the highest sections from the different SAT or ACT sittings. An SAT of 1220 is approximately an ACT of 25 so I would send both scores. CSU’s also do not use the essay/writing section.

For the UC’s, they will take the highest total/composite score from a single sitting so again I would send both SAT and ACT scores. You will not be penalized for the 1180 scores and even though the essay is required for the UC’s, it is the least important section.
