I tried posting this on a different subtopic and didn’t get many replies - after looking again I think this one is probably more appropriate and I’ll get more replies.
I’m a first-gen student and there aren’t very many resources available to me for deciding a lot of college related things. I’m a rising senior and I’ve taken a lot of AP’s and SAT’s and ACT’s and whatnot, and simply don’t know which scores I should send off. I’m not even sure which schools I am applying to except for Ohio State (I’m doing PSEOP there this year), but will probably try to go for the really nice ones like Stanford etc. Which of these scores should I send and does it hurt to send low scores in addition to high ones? Thanks!
ACT:
- C:35 (E:33 M:34 R:35 S:36) (try 1)
- C:35 (E:35 M:36 R:34 S:36) (try 2)
I’m gonna retake in September just because… I know I don’t have to but I want to. The question here is whether or not I should submit both scores or just the better one to colleges, as I did get 1 point higher in reading on the first test. Would it be worth showing the lower scores in other categories to show that I was able to get 1 point higher in reading once, and a 36 superscore?
SAT:
- 2170 (CR:680 M:800 W:690)
I will retake this test as well in October… I’m not very satisfied with my score here and did a lot worse than what I was expecting and getting on practice tests… Should I even submit this score at all, since it is bad compared to my ACT? If I get a better score, should I still submit this one or not?
SAT II:
- Chem: 750
- US History: 690
- Physics: 800
- Math 2: 800
I’m done taking these tests after I got the two perfect scores, but would it hurt my application to send the two lower scores? I don’t know at all here.
AP:
- Chem: 4
- US History: 4
- Calc BC: 5 (5 AB Subscore)
- US Gov: 5
- German: 4
- English Lang: 5
- Physics C: Mech: 5
- Physics C: E&M: 5
I’ve heard from people that you don’t even submit AP scores, but I’ve also heard that you self-report them (whatever that means). Do they even affect applications? Do I get to choose which ones I submit? Do the 4s hurt me at all and should I self-report those? Do I even submit any of them at all?!
I’ve also taken the National German Exam help by the American Association of Teachers of German as a Freshman and Sophomore, but this year my teacher made a slight error and wasn’t able to. The first time I got a silver award for being 88th percentile, and the second time I got the gold award as 97th percentile. These were national rankings and I was up against some native speakers (I started in 8th grade) so I think they’re pretty good. I did receive the PAD award trip and spent three and a half weeks in Germany with a host family to study the language and travel. It was really fun and very competitive to get into, only some 44 students in the nation and one in my state got it. I’m a bit sad that I got a 4 on the AP exam for German though, and it looks like a rather weak performance in German relative to all my other accomplishment with the language.
Sorry I put in a lot of stuff here, but I just don’t what to do with my scores and which ones to submit etc. The general question I guess is which scores should or shouldn’t submit, and whether or not I can do that in the first place. Thanks for any help!
