I am going to be applying to Dartmouth and they require the essay portion of the ACT/SAT. I scored a 33 as my best composite score, but I didn’t take the writing with that test, so will they even look at this score? My other score is a 31 and I took the essay with it, so will they just use this score if I send it? Also, I took the SAT with writing but got a 1400 composite which is not great for Dartmouth. I got 6 on all of the essay scores (out of 2-8), while I got a 27 (out of 36) on that ACT writing.
why don’t you ask Dartmouth to see whether they look at your 33 ACT? or do they superscore?
I do agree the SAT is not great.
I emailed dartmouth and they said they will look at the best writing score, so I am glad that I don’t have to worry about that. 27 isn’t great for the act writing, but I am hoping that it’s not a huge part of the consideration. I got a 4 and a 5 on the 2 AP English tests, so I’m just gonna blame act for the bad grading haha.
