Which Scores Will Colleges See?

I took the ACT for the first time in April of 2016. ACT automatically gives you an option to send scores to four colleges for free, which you select before testing.

I took the ACT again today (with the same colleges marked as before) and probably did not improve. If my score is worse and the bad score automatically gets sent to colleges, can that hurt my chances at admission? I know it is said that they take the better score of the two, but could them seeing that I did worse on my second try hinder my odds?

The schools will get the new score. They won’t penalize you for doing worse. They will use the higher score for admissions consideration.

That’s why many people give up the free schools to send scores to and wait to see what they are before sending, which is better if you have that luxury.
