so i got into uga, gt and umich; from georgia..i dont think i want to do anything science related, but i do want to get a good job and work somewhere other than the south.....i would love love love to go to mich if i get money...i'm reallyyyy torn about where i should go at this point...has anyone else had a similar situation?

which one should you taaaaaaakkkkkeeee? ~ It’s not Friday, Friday …

Uhm. I think UMich is the best. But I’m a bit biased.

You should go where you want to go. College isn’t something easily adapted to, it’s where you’re going to live for the next couple of years of your life. You need to make sure you’re comfortable and you like the college. Go on visits and decide for yourself. We don’t know you, you shouldn’t be putting your future in our hands. It sounds like you want to go to UMich the most.

im from new jersey, and applied to all school either close to nj, or not terribly far like schools in ohio, and i applied to wvu. but i applied to alabama as my number one because i want to live and work in the southern cities when im older. i think location definitely helps with job after college. so if i used my logic for your quesiton id say uni mich is the best school

UMich’s alumni network is stellar. Just putting that out there.

I agree with dyno, though, that the best way to decide this is to collect as much information as you can about the schools (which includes, but is not limited to, visiting), compare them, and decide where you want to go based on that.

Visiting as an admitted student is much more helpful than visiting before you’ve received your decision, so going back to all of them even if you’ve already visited could prove incredibly helpful in making your decision.

^Agree with what’s been said. Visit the schools and pick the one that’s best for you.

That being said, UMich was on my college list (though I didn’t end up applying there) and I’ve only ever heard good things.

I believe you helped me review my essays, as I also was applying to U of M. I got wait-listed. Personally I would still shoot for UM because they are just awesome

do you guys think financially, its worth being in debt and graduating from michigan? a few people told me it pays for itself eventually…

How much debt?

If you will graduate with more than the total permitted under the Stafford Loan program, then no. To learn more about that topic, read through the threads in the Financial Aid Forum, and pay a visit to [Project on Student Debt: Home](http://www.projectonstudentdebt.org)

It’s silly to take on debt for undergrad to go to a school like UMichigan (which is after all a state school) as an out-of-state student when you have been accepted into a school the calibre of Georgia Tech. GT is arguably as prestigious as Michigan. Being in Atlanta opens you up to all sorts of career and networking possibilities. GT is not as regional as UGa. In this economy, don’t go into debt for undergrad. You can also go to Michigan or elsewhere later on for grad school. I have a friend whose son is attending Michigan out-of-state for undergrad and is now wanting to go to med school. While he liked Michigan okay, they are feeling it in no way was worth the out-of-state tuition.
