Are both allowed on AP Calc exams and on the SAT / ACT?

Nspire

/10 char

I was thinking so too. Care to elaborate? Is either or alright for AP’s and SAT/ACT?

An 83 is perfectly fine for AP/SAT/ACT. I actually recommend sticking with the 83, unless you have a lot of time on your hands to get used to using a different calculator. I’ve seen a friend using an Nspire before, and one time during a test, afterwards he said he spent half the time trying to figure out how to do something on the calculator, that he knew how to do using the 83.

83 is fine you shouldn’t waste your money. It works perfectly for me

Thanks for the input guys. I think I am going to stick to my 83 because I’m already insanely fast on it.

I have friends with all three calcs among them and recommend the one you are most familiar with unless you have a lot of time to learn new syntax. I think the Nspire is too confusing and slow, but I love my 89 and recommend it strongly if you plan on taking higher level math courses (i.e. DE’s, Calc III, etc.) The 89 does much more and is much more powerful. Still, be advised that you CANNOT use a CAS (computer algebra system) on the ACTs, which means the Nspire CAS and 89 cannot be used.

For the SAT, a TI 83 is enough.

Nspire is the best. It’s simple but does alot of complex mathematics. Plus they allow it.
