So, I'd like to apply to Columbia ED. Right now my SAT I score is 2200 (700 math, 750 reading and writing). My SAT II scores are 770 US History, 790 Literature, and 700 Math 1. Would it make more sense for me to retake the Math 1 or the SAT I? Should I just leave my scores as is and focus instead on perfecting my GPA? Thoughts?

I think you should give Math 2 a try.

Well, you can’t really improve your GPA much since it’s your senior year.

I personally think your SATII scores are fine b/c Columbia only asks for two.

If you want to show your versatility and show awesome SATIIs from different areas (humanities and math), retake the Math. I still don’t think it’d make much difference.

Your SAT score is fine for Columbia ED.

Spend your time working on essays. They are the most important part of your applications, once you have the stats.

^pretty much agree with what your saying.

However, since your applying ED to Columbia, you might as well take another hack at the standarized tests. What have you got to lose (besides some cash)?

700 on the Math 1 isn’t as bad as it sounds, because frankly the curve sucks. I would STRONGLY recommend trying the Math II, and if you get 750+ on a practice test, take the test for real. While your there you might as well retake the Lit/Math1 (for 9 bucks, why not?) as I think you have a shot at improving.

Columbia requires only two SAT II scores but, without Score Choice, all scores must be submitted.

A 2200 is a perfectly good score for any school. If you want to boost it, you should consider the ACT instead; many score significantly higher on the ACT than the SAT I.

^Didn’t realize Columbia required the submission of all scores. In that case, its probably not worth retaking.

Although Columbia requires all scores to be submitted, it superscores the SAT I, so there’s no real risk.

Take Math II and score higher. Colleges like to see Math II more than Math I. If you know the math, there is no reason not to take Math II (the curve is nicer).

If I already have 2 solid SAT II scores, though, would it be worth it to take Math II? Honestly, I’m not confident I can score 700+ on Math II, as math isn’t my strong point. Should I retake anything? SAT? Math 1?
