Which Should I Submit?

I need some advice as I'm preparing to apply for college.

My SAT scores aren't as high as I would like them:
First time: Math: 590 Verbal: 660 Writing: 680
Second time: Math: 600 Verbal: 640 Writing: 690
Both total: 1930 (how frustrating to get the same thing twice!)

I took the ACT without studying, and I got a 30 composite.
English: 35 Math: 26 Science: 25 Reading: 32

I've been studying to retake the ACT, but will my application look weaker if I submit only the ACT? Are colleges biased towards the more-popular SAT? Should I retake the SAT? I'm completely confused, and I don't want to waste time and money if I don't have to.

I'm looking at colleges like Amherst, Brown, Colby, and Bowdoin. I know Bowdoin is SAT/ACT optional, but what do you think would be the best course of action?

Sorry for the wordy post, but thanks in advance for your help!

If not retaking the ACT a 30 on the ACT is pretty strong and I would submit that over the SAT. Ideally you could retake the ACT and get high 30s then you would be a solid applicant.

As it is, I would go ahead and submit your ACT score. I feel like if you did some studying up and practicing ACT-esque math/science problems you could easily bring up your 30 ACT too something even more appealing, because you're obviously quite strong with the LA portions. :]

retake the ACT
