which percentile is used by the schools? national percentile or ssat percentile? or does it differ by school

They all use the ssat percentile. The national percentile is there to give the family an idea of how self-selecting ssat test takers are. One could be in the 90s nationally but in the 30s among ssat takers. Look at it this way, if a kid scores at the 40th ssat percentile, that means that among the somewhat elite group of kids he’s slightly below the average of above average kids. It’s kind of a way to redistribute the top 25% of kids.

Oh, thanks! I was just wondering the same thing.

Well I asked both schools my daughter applied to and one said SSAT percentile, the other said the National percentile … So I guess it varies
