Which state do I to be considered?

<p>I hold a Texas passport but go to a prep(boarding) in WY, do I consedered WY applicant or TX applicant?</p>

<p>What I’ve generally heard is that if you are still a minor and a dependent of your parents, then you go by wherever their permanent residence is. If you’re applying to a WY school and would like to try to claim residency, you could call the school, but you might not have much luck. Otherwise, I’d say TX.</p>

<p>TX, you live where you pay taxes to. If you’re a minor, or your parents are still paying your taxes, or you’re even paying your own taxes to Texas, you live in TX.</p>

<p>For high school students who apply to college, all states have a presumption that you are a resident of where your parents (or guardian) live regardless of where you are going to school.</p>
