Which Stats class is easiest?

there are a whole bunch of stats classes to choose from - aem 2100, pam 2100, ilrst 2100, math 1710, etc., etc.,

basically calc chem and bio hurt my gpa last semester and i really need to bring it up. do any of you have advice on which stats to take that could help me out? my advising dean said that math would be the hardest of them all but it has the highest median grade. any advice on the matter? i'm not the greatest at math and have never taken a stats course in high school.

on a side note, i heard that the median grades of the classes we take will be posted on our transcript alongside our grades. how does this affect us? how will med schools look at this/will they even care?

oh thanks a lot! that one doesnt discuss the MATH course though, which of them all has the highest median grade (A-, if i recall correctly). does anyone have any experience with that class. i also think it’s the smallest of the options too.

The Math Stat may be a bit misleading since I’ve heard quite a few smart people take the class, and it’s much more mathematically oriented. More Math majors take it, that’s why it is likely high. I’ve heard that ILR Stat is pretty easy, so I’m taking that. AEM has a low median, but that’s because a lot of incompetent AEM kids take that class (see athletes/people who don’t know how to do anything but business).

ah, i see. well thank you for that clarification.

also, note that you cannot pre-enroll in the MATH course unless you are a student in arts and sciences. I have first hand experience with this! :(

I’ve taken Math 1710 before, and I didn’t feel that it was that hard.
The prelims and final were very straightforward, and the computer labs were pretty simple.

i’m not a genius, and i got an A+ in math 1710. can’t really shed light on the other versions, but if you’re halfway hardworking, you should get at least a B+ or A- in math 1710

I got an A+ in Math 171 as well. It’s pretty easy. I think the means on the tests were in the mid-80’s.

I took Pam 2100 and I didn’t get an A+. my suitemate did though.

The class isn’t curved so if your final average for the class is above 97 you get an A+.

Oh and the average test grades for his prelims were like a high B+

PAM stats is the easiest by reputation. I’d be taking it right now if only it could double count as a technical elective…

They are all easy just take the one that lets you sleep in the most. I personally took AEM Stats with Cindy Van Es. Good Prof IMO. ILR Stat has significant writing for a stats class I heard. PAM/MATH stats are also not very challenging. The point of these courses is to teach you basic stats…there isn’t much they can do to make it THAT hard.

Has anyone taken the Psych or Sociology stat courses?
