Which summer program?

Right now, I am trying to decide on a summer program to attend in 2006 (im a junior). Im stuck between Penn's Pre college program and Harvard's Summer school for high school students. My favorite school is by far Penn, where I know i will apply ED, but which program will a) teach mre more (microeconomics for both programs) b) look better on my college transcript? Any help for either program would be appreciated, thanks.

Neither will help you on ivy apps. The only summer programs that help are the fee, highly selective ones like RSI. So go to the one you'll most enjoy, both Penn and Harvard will tell you they give no preference to summer school students.

For something that looks good to colleges, volunteer or work, all the expensive programs say is that you're affluent, not a favored status at ivies these days!!

Thanks for replying to my post. I'm not applying to RSI because i'm not at all a science oriented person, although I am good at math. Do you know of any other summer programs that would increase my chances at Ivies, as well as schools like Uchicago, northwestern, and duke?

Why not make your own? Entrepreneurship is a big draw these days, at least I think it is. I was turned down for the Quest scholar program, so I just went to my regional QuarkNet coordinator and started a summer research initiative at the University of Houston. You don't have to go to a highly recognized program if you don't want to. I think it looks better if you do something on your own and then explain about the significance of charting into unknown territory.
