Which SUNY do you think is right for me?! PLEASE help?!

I really need some help. I got into 9 out of 13 schools I applied to. Two were private, and one was out of state, and those all aren't really options for me because of the cost. So I've narrowed it down to some SUNY schools, but I'm freaking out because I don't know where to go. So I could use some opinions!

About me: I'm sort of artsy (writer) and I love music. I like to party but I don't party too much. I want to go into an English/Education program. Right now I'm mainly focused on social aspects of schools because I had such a horrible time in high school that I really want to meet some interesting people and have a lot of fun in college. I live in Westchester, NY, which is far away from all of the SUNY schools besides two of them.

Schools I was accepted to:
University at Albany
SUNY Cortland
SUNY Fredonia (considering)
SUNY Plattsburgh (considering)

I also applied to Oneonta, Binghamton, University at Buffalo, and New Paltz. I haven't heard back from these schools yet but I don't think any of them are options for me.

I'm sorry that this was so long but I'm stressing out and I want to know (socially) which school sounds right for me. And your opinions on said schools. Please don't include New Paltz because I won't get in there. Thanks :)

It sounds like you’d like Fredonia a good bit, of those schools listed- my older sister visited and loved Fred, and she has similar interests as you. I can say you can probably cross Cortland off your list now- my boyfriend plays football there, and while Cortaca is awesome (!!!) it doesn’t seem like the social scene you want. A friend of mine in HS visited, who was really involved with choir/theatre/the arts- she almost cried on her visit because the school is SO athletic and “jock”-esque (for the record, she ended up at SUNY Brockport majoring in education).

Idk much about Plattsburgh other than, I can’t imagine living in Plattsburgh for 4 years lol. I live near UAlbany and I think they’re pretty well known for drinking- Alcoholbany?- but I also have friends there who don’t fit that frat boy stereotype. I think UAlbany is big enough to find a niche regardless. Everyone I know at Oneonta loves it, I think Buffalo is another school where it’s big enough to fit in. I got into Bing last year and it was actually in my final 2 for decisions- I visited and it was nice, I actually liked it a lot, but I ended up having the same cost at a private school in Boston and I chose that because I didn’t want to deal with all the Long Island accents, lol.

In summary: socially, Fredonia sounds like your best bet.

Thank you! I HATED the plattsburgh campus when I visited, but no students were there. And I heard that the gender ratio at Oneonta is really skewed - like 30% guys and 60% girls? Which I don’t know if I like. Doesn’t Fredonia not have a town, though?

Suny Cortland has a huge education program. My niece went there. She was awkward in HS and didn’t have too many friends. She had an amazing time at Cortland. So much to do and everyone was very nice. She loved it. She joined a sorority and made a ton of friends. She was also friends with kids that did not go greek. The town is very accessible from the campus.
