@sandkmom thanks for the information, i’ve been reading forums on here for a while now and finally decided to create an account, but the information i’m getting is very helpful. Yeah i’m just going to apply to all of them and see what happens i know Yale has need based only scholarships. My only downfall will be that i don’t really have any extracurricular activities. Would that really play a major factor in my application process ? I want to go to a school in a urban area really but i can deal with the suburban if an urban area is within driving distance.

sandkmom - i didn’t say suny grads would be homeless; i just said that it’s less likely for them to be recruited by the best and most competitive places.

itzsav - you would get a BS in aem and then apply to the johnson school for your mba. you could do it in a year as a cornell undergrad going there, but i’m not sure about applied programs as i’m not a business major. i would check again on the website for any info about that

I guess it will depend on what you did with your free time. Work? Study? Music? Write? Probably good. Crime? Probably not. :D

If you’ve been reading the forums then you definitely know that your essay will make or break you particularly if you don’t have many EC’s. Summer is a good time to get started on that!

And re your desire to attend an urban or suburban but close to urban school…definitely visit Binghamton and Cornell. They are good schools but not remotely urban. My S applied and was accepted to Binghamton and it was a good financial safety option for him. But the truth is he never would have lasted upstate…he needs to be in the city. And given that, other top schools didn’t make his list. You might feel differently about it though if the schools are strong in your major and have other plusses for you. It would be so great if there was one school that fit all your criteria perfectly but that’s unlikely so you’ll just have to prioritize what is important to you. You just have to remember as crazy and stressful as it is, it all works out in the end. :)

Fair enough. But it doesn’t mean they won’t end up there anyway. Study hard and enjoy Cornell! I wish you success in being recruited! :)

@itzsav

Since you brought up Georgetown earlier, look at Fordham’s CBA as well. Certainly the urban part is there and it might work for you financially as well. They do give nice merit packages based on stats. My S will be attending the Lincoln Center campus in the fall. Business is at the Rose Hill campus in the Bronx though.

Ironically unsure okay I’ll look on their site. What are you majoring in ?

Sandkmom alright that’s good because essay writing is a strong point for me and Yale is the only school that really meets my criteria but I think I’m going to look at the Wharton school I hear their business program is excellent thanks for all the info I’m going to apply to my top schools and see what happens. I’ll post my ACT scores after my test and hopefully they match up with my 4.0 average

Yes, Wharton is excellent. But you’ve come away from your original post asking for info about SUNY/CUNY schools and transferring. I’m making an assumption of course that this is financially related but don’t forget to keep finances in mind…it happens every year kids are crying over the fabulous acceptances they received to schools they can’t afford. Good luck! :)

yeah I’m using Suny/Cuny as a back up school just in case I don’t get accepted to my choice schools but I will keep finances in mind when making a decision.

wow, completely missed your urban requirement. yeah, cornell’s not urban lol which is part of why i love it, but if that’s important to you, just know that cornell’s in the middle of nowhere but we have a great collegetown. i second sandkmom’s fordham suggestion.

sandkmom - i’m actually pre-health lol but boyfriend is being recruited, so yay! good luck to your kids! (i assume you’re a mom… lol but you, too!)

Lol oh it’s really not that important that’s just how i’m use to living in a city fast paced life-style, but ill check fordham out,
