I want to major in Political Science and I don't want a very large school. Any SUNY suggestions?

I have looked at 4 SUNY schools and visited 2. My personal favorite is Purchase. If you’d love a genuine college experience with an artsy twist, I’d look into it.

If you’re set on a SUNY then look into pretty much any of them. Schools like Geneseo, Albany, Buffalo, and Stony Brook, will be more of a reach. But that is out of like 20 schools.

Look at the SUNY website, suny.edu. You can plug in variables like the major you’re interested in, location, # of students, etc. and it will tell you which of the 64 schools match you.

SUNY also offers a service where you can go in with your transcript and discuss with an advisor your goals, your grades, etc. and they will recommend schools to apply to. My DD and I went in and they narrowed it down to 6 schools. She applied to 5 of them (refused Buffalo when she saw how much snow it got), got in to two and was rejected by 3, but she got merit money from the school that took her. Her GPA was lower than yours by about .5 but her SATs were 200 points higher and she had no AP’s.

If you’re looking for small schools, look at Purchase, Oneonta, Cortland, Plattsburgh, Oswego. New Paltz would be a reach for you with those SATs and Geneseo is probably out of reach. Buff State is a safety.

My DD attends a small upstate SUNY and she loves it. However, she is not in the same major as you.
