I'm a high school senior, and I want to major in Comp Science. I'm a US Citizen studying in India. 1970 SAT, 29 ACT.

I've already applied to Stony Brook, but I'm not sure which of the other SUNYs to apply to out of: UBuff, Bing, Albany, and SUNYIT. Keep in mind the CS major.

Are CCNY and City Tech good colleges? Also, I'm assuming because they're in NYC, they won't have a good campus. But that's just an assumption; what do I know.

It would be awesome if anyone would help me with a decision!

Thank you so much, and if there's any other information I can supply then do let me know!
:)

City College is a great college, and they do have a special focus on STEM majors. I live a few blocks from City College and it actually has a pretty campus, although not too many on-campus living options. I don’t know too much about City Tech.

You might also consider Hunter College, and perhaps Lehman and Brooklyn College as well.

As for other SUNYs, I’d definitely do Bing and Albany. Perhaps also Buffalo. There are also the smaller campuses like Geneseo, Fredonia, New Paltz, and Oswego.

I agree with juillet - CCNY feels like a campus, even though in NYC and is a good school. And I think her other CUNY and SUNY recommendations are good for your stats.

I know a couple of kids who got into/are attending City Tech and SUNYIT and those schools are not as strong as Bing, Albany, Buffalo, etc. SUNYIT has a tiny number of students on campus, but the campus is very nice. The SAT CR/M range is 1000-1100 and the ACT range is 22-24.

I’m just wondering if I should go for Buff over Albany and Bing. I’ve heard Buff’s CS is at par with Stony Brook. But Buff is supposed to be much colder, am I right (what’s wrong with me; I shouldn’t be so nitpicky!).

So finally, if I do CCNY, Albany, and Bing would that be wise? (Leaving sUNYIT, Buffalo, and City Tech?)

Buffalo is definately colder and also considerably easier to get into. I’d definately widen the net a bit from Stony…You didn’t mention your GPA, but with those test scores, Stony won’t be a slam dunk.
