Which test scores to send???

I’m hoping that the great minds on this board can help with this situation! I’d ask at school, but am not as confident that they will have the best answer!

My son is a rising senior and my 4th child to apply to college etc. His highest ACT score is a 31, but has a writing score of 19! He also has an ACT score of 30 with no writing score, as he didn’t take it that time. I am wondering if we should have his test re-scored? ( I have heard that you can do this…anyone try that?) He is not the best writer, so it’s not like I thought he would score high, but a 19 seems very low! All this said, for schools that don’t require writing, should we just send the 30 ACT? Or go ahead and send the 31 with the low writing and hope they don’t notice or care of it? There are not too many schools that he is interesting in, that require the writing score, but a couple do… He won’t take it again. We are done with testing! ha ha~!

ACT writing is taken with a grain of salt by many admissions officers. There’s simply no way to standardise a good essay. Application essays will be far more important.

Send the 31.

You might want to ask for the rescoring. However, it has to be done within certain time period. You should check ACT website.
