Which Test Would You Recommend Submitting?

Hi everyone,

I'm a rising senior and I've taken both the SAT and the ACT. I was wondering which I should submit to colleges, especially those that require a full testing history. Yale is my first choice, and they require knowledge of the testing history of only one of the tests. Thus, I'm trying to decide which test to report to them. My scores are:

SAT (Superscored):

Reading- 800
Math- 770
Writing- 800

ACT:

English- 35
Math- 32
Reading- 36
Science- 36
Writing- 10/12
Composite- 35

I have taken the SAT 4 times. The highest reading and math scores are from the 3rd time I took it, but the writing is from the 4th.

Do Yale and other similarly prestigious schools (Stanford, etc.) look down upon taking the SAT that many times? Also, do they consider scores other than the top one in each category? Although I took the test 4 times, I improved by about 90 points each time I took it.

I only took the ACT once, but the math score is slightly lower than the other ones. Would admissions offices view taking it once negatively, especially since the math score isn't quite the same as the others?

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

You do know that Stanford requires all scores, right? <a href=“Standardized Testing : Stanford University”>Page Not Found : Stanford University; You can see from the link that Stanford uses your highest score in each section.

This answer from Yale’s testing FAQ makes me think they may mark you down for taking the test that many times.

Both are about the same score if you convert… would make no big difference. Though taking the SAT makes you look like you tried too hard for the score and failed many times
