Which tests should I take?

I know that most of the elite colleges require at least 3 SAT subject tests, but I am not sure which ones I should take. If I am taking all of the advanced courses at my school, what subject tests should I take and how much time should I spend preparing?

Not enough information. What's your favorite subject? What subjects do you find to be the easiest? What are the advanced courses at your school? What grade are you in? What would you like to study in college?

Generally, it's whatever classes you're strongest in! To be a bit more specific...it's often a good idea to take a subject test in May or June of the year you take an AP (or similar) course in that class, if it's something like science or history. Literature, foreign language and math tend to be more flexible in terms of when they can be taken and still done successfully, so the months you have available to test could impact your decision. Additionally, be sure to check out the requirements of your school/major. Engineering programs, for example, will generally want Math II and a science, or something like that.

In terms of preparation...I actually didn't spend time preparing for mine at all, because I had just come off of my APs/finals in the subjects I took when I did them in June. If it's been awhile since you've taken a class in the subject, though, I would suggest studying. Also, it would definitely be a good idea to look over the format of the tests, and maybe take a practice one or two, even if you don't do any other studying, because often being prepared simply for the way things will be presented could be important.

Hope that was helpful.

I like school a lot but history/social studies and math are definitely my best subjects and my worst subject is science. I am a sophmore taking Spanish 3, Latin 1&2, English 2, Chemistry 1, Precalculus, and Civics/Economics. All of the courses are honors. I am not sure what I want my major to be.
