Which top schools, particularly LACs, don't require SAT IIs this year?

Anyone have a list from somewhere?

There's quite a few. University of Chicago, Emory, Notre Dame, JHU just to name a few. I only know those because those are the main schools I'm applying to, and I think they are all top 20.

University of Virgina is another one.

Any smaller top LACs? I known Bowdoin doesn't...or Macalester or Kenyon.

Colgate ..doesnt want

New York University

NYU recommends that you take the SAT II and requires SAT II for admission in to some schools

We encourage all applicants to submit the results of two SAT Subject Tests. For students entering NYU as freshmen in September, 2007 (current juniors), our policy concerning SAT Subject Tests is changing.* Beginning with the freshman class entering in 2007, all students, except for those noted below, will be required to submit two SAT Subject Tests. **This requirement does not apply to those students applying for programs in our Tisch School of the Arts or for the studio art or for any of the music programs in our Steinhardt School of Education. (Note that students applying to programs in Steinhardt that do not require an audition or portfolio will be required to submit two SAT II scores.) The purpose of providing SAT II scores is to assist us in determining how well prepared you are for college-level work, which is, of course, similar to the reason we ask visual and performing arts students to provide a portfolio or perform an audition. *

So if you are applying to Stern or CAS you will have to submit SAT II

If you go to fairtest.org there is a listing of SAT optional schools (some however will require SAT II)

Holy Cross-very good LAC-is SAT optional.

Quite a few schools will accept the ACT with Writing in place of SAT I and II. Swarthmore and Middlebury do this, among others.

I believe SAT2's are optional at Carleton College
