which top schools superscore?

all of them i think

Most top private universities superscore. Most top public universities don't.

for ACT or SAT???

SAT. I am not sure if it is possible to superscore for ACT, or if any university does.

really....i had no clue that most top private universities superscore....hmmm thats interesting

The only top school that superscores the ACT that i know of is WUSTL

I don't know of any top private that doesn't. The only public that does it, I think, is UVA (that I know of).

for examples of policies among highly selective colleges.

Just visited Vandy today. They said they dont superscore the ACT.

does it really matter? they are going to see all the SATs you took anyway. so lets say technically they "don't superscore". what is stopping them from
"peeking at" (taking into consideration) your past scores which might have been higher in a section?

How exactly could a college superscore the ACT?

UCs dont!!!!

they could add up all the best sections and divide by the number of sections. That's all the composite is

Do not rely too heavily on superscoring. The top schools might add your highest scores for statistical purposes, but they do not ignore your lower scores when making admission decisions. I have attended several admission information sessions at so-called elite colleges. In all cases the admissions representatives claimed, "we add your highest scores in each category." Although that statement was true, it was incomplete. When asked specifically if lower scores were ignored, all acknowleged that they consider all scores.

That sucks. If you happen to do better the 2nd time, they should just accept that and not pay so much attention to the other score.

wobudong, are you talking about Rice or about some other college?

Colleges can superscore the ACT easily.

1st attempt (36 English, 35 Math, 15 Reading, 30 Science) Composite=29
2nd attempt (28 English, 30 Math, 36 Reading, 36 Science) Composite=33

Superscore (36 E, 35 M, 36 R, 36 S) Composite=36
Not my scores, just an example
