For the Common Application essay, I was planning on writing about my experiences training my horse. I think that this really allows me to describe myself and I can write about it easily, also it is something fairly unique. The only problem is, there is also the prompt that asks you talk about your most significant EC or something like that, and my most significant EC is riding and showing my horses. I don't think I should write my essays about basically the same thing, so my question is, should I write about a different EC and keep the horse essay for the main essay, or should I come up with a completely different topic and write about horses for the EC question? On the one hand, I don't want to undermine the significance of my horses by not claiming them as my most important EC, but on the other hand, I feel like this is a really strong topic and I don't really want to abandon it. Does anyone have any suggestions?

IF you could make the two essays address the two topics in clearly different ways, then yes, go for it. If your essays end up being too similar, get a new topic. I think your essay topic sounds great, but maybe there's another activity you enjoy too?

The main thing is to get two really strong essays. If both essays address similar topics, then that's probably ok as long as they impress the heck out of the readers! :)
