Prospective Major- Foreign Language Education

Is there another place in the application where you can indicate that you taught yourself 4 languages and want to major in foreign language education?

For the cancer topic, you can always write a short thing about that in the supplementary essay, or have your guidance counselor write about it. If it impacted school attendance or course choices, even your parents can write a note that guidance can include with the transcript.

The foreign language topic could also be a supplementary essay (the one where they ask if there is anything else they should know about you that hasn’t been covered in the application.)

I have read an essay on the topic of having few resources in high school in terms of courses, equipment, software etc. and how that forced creative workarounds. But it was cleverly done. That kind of thing can make for a good essay.

Think about what the application already covers adequately. If something has been mentioned already, then think about which ones you want to go deeper with, and whether you want to do that in the main essay, supplementary essay or some other way.

A good essay be about anything as long as it gives an impression of who you are. I read a really good one about blueberry muffins. If I had to choose from your list, I would pick cancer or the topic about the lack of challenge at your school. But think about whether you want the cancer struggle to define you, since it can be communicated in other ways.
