Which topics in the Barron's SAT II Chemistry book are unnecessary?

I recently got the Barron's Chemistry book for the SAT II. While the book is quite good for review, it is fairly extensive in terms of subject matter. I realize that there is a chart that displays what will be on the test, but the chapters go a bit too in-depth for my taste.

If you have already taken the SAT II in Chemistry: Which topics can be skipped/minimally reviewed?

Also, while I'm at it, which topics are extremely important for the test?

Thanks :)

SAT II Chem is quite in depth; you need to know most of the stuff in the Barron’s Chem book.

However, Barron’s SATII Chem does go too in-depth for the calculations (like solubility). Also, on my subject test, I didn’t get a lot of nucleonics and the organic was much simpler than that in Barrons SAT II Chem. The lab stuff was also pretty easy on the test, but difficult in Barrons.

Okay, thanks for your response! That’s a relief for me, because the sections on organic chem and lab stuff were a bit challenging for me.

Did you take AP Chemistry the same year as the SAT II? Did that class, along with preparation for the AP test itself, really give you a good foundation for the SAT II?

I self-studied AP Chem the year before I took the SAT 2 chem. I’m sure that taking either the exam or the class for AP Chem will help you loads for the SAT 2. The questions are made by the same company, though I didn’t enjoy the TFCE section of the SAT 2 chem.
