There are 2 universities that I'm interested in, but they both offer different types of co-op.

The first one is University of Waterloo. Waterloo has a 4-month study/co-op shift. This will give me a lot of opportunity to work for different employers as well as do different jobs, but I'm worried about moving all over the place frequently and not be able to find a place to live during my co-op term.

The second one is University of Toronto. UT offers a PEY program which is basically a 12-16 month work term after the second or third year. This is one continuous co-op placement so I don't have to move all the time. However, I wouldn't have as many contacts as UW.

depends on what you prefer
keep in mind though, UT's PEY is not for all majors, and its harder to get in because there arent that many slots
UWs 4 month shift can be pretty stressful, and can be pretty annoying. some people like it, some dont, ive heard many different stories about it

however, with all those problems aside, UW's co-op is probably more worth your time. like you said, the contacts are important, and staying in 1 company for 12 months is pretty pointless. think about it, why dont u save those 12 months, graduate earlier, and get a job instead? the difference is UWs co-op will probably provide more options and land you better jobs after graduation than the UT one, which is i think provides pointless experience
