Which UC are you going to and why?

UCSC because of smaller classes, research opportunities, and the general craziness that goes on there.

Cal because its the BEST!!!

California cause it owns the others.

UCI...cuz my parents are unfortunately making me go there.

hence i am NOT looking forward to any part of college.

theripcurl1969: that's sad, where do you want to go instead of UCI?

ucsd, cause cal and la rejected me, plus imma major in like econ or some science :)

Berkeley, because it's the shiet.

ucd cuz it's the closest to home compare to my other choices (uci and ucsb)

Davis because of Regent's, ISHP, and I liked it better than all the other UC's.

tenchi: ucsd. think about it, by going to uci for the 4 years, i will STILL be living with my parents at the age of 23. (they are making me live at home)

To ripcurl: You should have secretly sent your SIR to UCSD and then break the "awful" news to your parents that you can't go to UCI. I did that with UCSC so I wouldn't be pressured to go to Davis.

ripcurl: where do you live?

i live 20 minutes away from uci in westminster and they attempted to tie me down and make me go to uci AND live at home.

going to uci is great. i wouldn't mind at all. i like the school very much, however, living at home was a 'O HELLS NO.'

i did end up persuading them to let me move out in the end because of my usage of machiavellian tactics of extortion and blackmail convoluted with threats of going all the way up north to berkeley. maybe resorting to such measure might help?

lets just say i can WALK to uci from my house in about 10-12 minutes....i tried those techniques and unfortunately they didnt work.

UCI: Because my parents want me close to home.

I convinced my parents to let me live in the dorms even though I live about 30 minutes away.

My arguments: I wouldn't get the full college experience, I'm annoying--don't you want to get rid of me?, I'm gone most of the time anyway, people who live on campus usually get better grades (I really don't know if that's true, but my parents believe anything), and I would probably move back 2nd year.

pineapplesauce:
i parents dont believe in the "college experience" b/c they went to college in a different country where it was STUDY STUDY STUDY and no fun.
my parents apparently like me, hence they DONT want me to leave, and also they apparently dont trust me, they think i will never study and party every night.
and they say its a waste of money.

What can we say besides, sucks to be you dude. Did you screw up in HS?

oh.. 10-12 walk doesn't constitute total demise of the chance of experiencing 'the college experience.' seriously don't worry about it. think on the positive side. you get to come home and chow down whenever you like your parents will prolly pay for most of your stuff. my friend that went to uci last year had a dorm but was never really there, he always slept over and hung out at his friend's apartment. he ended up moving home after two years because of the realization of his growing debt. 10-12 minute walk? you have the pleasures of both worlds. i'm sure you'll still have as an active of a social life as if you were dorming. just make really good friends with people that have apartments so you can have the liberty of staying there whenever you don't feel like going home. and if you hate home so much, just stay at school all day and only return home to sleep. haha, you have it made man.. you just don't realize it yet.

crimsnpham: thanks for the reassurance!!

haha to the UCI thing...I livein Irvine too and my parents wanted me to go to UCI because it's close but I convinced them to let me go to UCLA...did it by showing them a bunch of school rankings lol

UCLA.... cuz of sports, academics, the campus, movie star sightings, Westwood, close to the beach, So Cal location, faaaaar away from home, the fact that it's price tag is about 1/2 of USC's & because "A Trojan lasts for one night, but a Bruin lasts forever"..... at least according to a t-shirt I saw. :) haha
