Hello,
I'm looking at UCs to major in art. I have to stay in mid to so. cali. UCSB looks good. UCLA of course looks great. UCI doesn't look too bad. Maybe even UCSD. I was wondering if anyone happens to be majoring in art at any of these schools and if so if they could give me their opinion. I really wish I could go to LAAFA near Northridge, but the tuition is so crazy I'm just not sure if it's really worth it. I am determined to get into a UC so please only give advice and/or opinions regarding UCs. Thank you for your time.

Why can’t you go to go to NorCal? UCSC has a well developed art program.

UCSB has a terrific program called the College of Creative Studies. It’s very small. I majored in painting there. I was a transfer, so I don’t know what it’s like to come in as a freshman, but I felt it was quite a lot like a grad school in that people were really dedicated and self-motivated. Also: very small classes, lots of one-on-one with amazing professors, great visiting artists from high up in the art world.
