Which UC school is the best school for someone with a biology major?

Ucsd .

Cal/UCSD .

also UCD
What kind of biology?

I believe UCSD is supposed to have one of the best Bio programs for UC's.

According to U.S. News and World Report, UC Davis is home to the best ecology and evolutionary biology graduate programs in the nation. UC Davis rose six places since the last time the report was issued, four years ago, to oust UC Berkeley and Harvard University from the top spots.

i would say ucsd.

There are lots of different majors within biology. Here are the contacts for UCD:

This question depends on the the specific field of biology that you intend to study and what you intend to do with a degree in that field.

The websites below rank the graduate programs at different universities. A strong graduate program is usually indicative of a strong undergraduate program.

If you're looking to do premed with a bio degree and are choosing between Cal and UCSD, then these two links should be of great interest to you. (These were found by vicissitudes on another thread).
http://career.berkeley.edu/MedStats/national.stm
http://career.ucsd.edu/sa/PMedHis.shtml

UCSD's average admission rate to medical schools for the past 5 years is ~49.8% while Cal's average is ~62.4%. So, there's a big difference.

UC Berkeley data includes only those applicants who released their AMCAS information to UCB.

Keep this in mind too.

What about comparing Pre-med programs between Cal Berkeley and UC Davis? Which one is better? and also is there a link showing the stats of UCD undergrads acceptance rate to medical school, like the links two posts before mine?

Doesn't UCI have a good science program? (I'm asking, not telling)

There is no such thing as a pre med major at any UC. In order to be pre med there is a series of classes in the sciences that must be taken. You can major in virtually anything you want and eventually go to medical school. The one essential factor is earning top grades. Entry into medical school is highly competitive. UCLA, UCD and UCI (UCR too) have medical schools and therefore could offer internships within a medical environment. ALL of these schools are equally excellent. CAL and UCSD would have excellent research opportunities and have excellent science departments. For undergrad you could attend any one of these schools and go on to medical school. Choose the school that has the undergraduate degree and environment you want and earn the grades. Here are a few more UCD links you might find helpful:

Hopefully those with helpful links from other schools will add on. :)

how about ucla? how do they compare for premed

There is no such thing as a pre med major at any UC, so there is no way to compare. UCLA has a medical school so they would have great opportunities for internships and research for interested undergrads. If you like LA and what UCLA has to offer then perhaps it would be a great fit for you. Check to see if they have the major you want.
You need excellent reading comprehension skills and research abilities to make it into med school.

anyone have average admission rates to medical school for UCI?

Most of the UC schools have great bio pograms. Go with the school you will enjoy living at for 4 years the most. Trust me when I say enjoying your 4 years is more important than being at a school ranked a couple spots higher.

UC Davis built its great reputation on its science and bio field. Approximately 25% of its undergraduate population are science majors (pre-med).

The actual percentage is 22%.

5,092 out of 22,735 total undergraduate students are in the College of Biological Sciences. That's almost 1 in 4 students which is a very high proportion of its student population.

For the Top 20 schools in Biological Sciences, here is U.S. News rankings............
