I was looking at the “official” decisions thread for 2010 and actually a sociology major who had gotten into ucla with a 3.3. So, I don’t think you’re setting your sights to high! I’m actually an English major but yes I am applying for Fall of '11… soo :)

Well much luck to you :)

Thanks! You too :)

a friend of mine majored in sociology. He told me that UCLA has like the best sociology department in the country. not sure if that’s true or not though.

Anyway, according to this:

[Profile of Admitted Transfer Students by Major, Fall 2009 - UCLA Undergraduate Admissions](http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/prospect/Adm_tr/Tr_Prof09_mjr.htm#PW)

the average Sociology major who applied had a gpa of 3.31. Unfortunately, the average admitted student had a gpa of 3.72 (those figures are from '09, the '010 equivalents are 3.34 and 3.75 respectively.) It definitely is a reach but it’s totally possible to get in. Just make sure your essay kicks butt and cross your fingers.

best of luck, hope to see you in UCLA sometime next year! : )

I’ve studied those statistics so much, I practicly know them verbatim. But thanks for the advise. Yeah, ucla is defenetly my dream school. I how I get to see you too.

UCLAudia, are you able to TAG/TAP? Any UC barring Cal/LA would be a match if so.

Get TAP for LA if you can and TAG a buncha others that you qualify for as safeties.

I can Tag into a few schools, but my school doesn’t offer tap foe ucla and cal

Cal doesn’t have TAP as far as I know. I’m pretty sure only UCLA does.

Berkeley does have TAP at a few CCCs, but it’s very different from UCLA’s program.
