So I am going to apply this November, and currently I have a 3.52 GPA. I want to major in Computer Science/ Cognitive Science. I understand that Cal and LA are out of reach for me now, since I have nothing in special (ECs, essay, etc.). I believe I can raise my GPA to around 3.6 by the end of Fall.

I have visited all 7 other UCs, and I must say I like most of them... So among SD, Irvine, Davis, SB, SC and Riverside, which one do you guys think have the best CS/CgS program? Thanks

Not sure about computer science itself, but UCSD has a very strong cognitive science program. I’d say definitely better than UCLA, and Berkeley does have the advantage of having the stronger CS program, but their cognitive science program isn’t as developed as UCSD’s.

Hmm, I’ll research that. Thanks
Anyone knows about CS at the other 7? I saw some posts in the UCSC Forum saying that UCSC’s CS is really amazing too, plus it’s near Silicon Valley, but not sure abt that

Really? SD>LA?
I think I have a small chance at SD with my GPA. LA may be out of reach already, but SD, yeah, maybe…
What about other schools? I heard that Irvine and SC are the only two schools which have CS Game Design Program. I’m interested in that major too. Are these two good, I wonder?

I know some game industry people and basically it’s bad to get such a narrow degree. It’s much better to get a CS degree and (try to) get into the industry.
