Which UC's can I get into with a subpar SAT?? Will chance back.

Here is my profile:

SAT 2: 700 (Molecular Biology)

-Really interesting personal statements that were edited by professionals (one is about trying my first cigarette, my middle school experience as a whole, and how that changed me; other is about my first day of volunteering at a hospital, where a lady gave birth to a child in a car, how I helped out with that, and how that influenced my career path)

-Thanks

bump

If you knock your essay out, you have a strong chance for UCSD. You have a good chance at any UC school not named UCLA or Berkeley. Your class rank is outstanding by the way, you go to a huge high school.

chance back at
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1707789-already-applied-but-what-do-you-think-my-chances-are.html#latest

Write good essays and you will have a great chance. Your GPA is awesome and UCs care more about your GPA than the SAT/ACT score.

I agree with @wpsl5683‌, UCs give a lot of weight to GPA because it’s long-term while SAT/ACT is just one test.

So here are my predictions:
UC Berkeley - Reach
UC Davis - Match
UC Irvine - Safety
UCLA - Reach
UC Merced - Safety
UC Riverside - Safety
UC San Diego - High Match
UC Santa Barbara - Match
UC Santa Cruz - Low Match

Please chance me back!

UCR/UCM/UCSC: Low Match
UCI: Match (more forgiving of lower test scores with High GPA)
UCD/UCSB: High Match
UCSD: Low Reach
UCLA/UCB: Reach

Class rank not considered as important as GPA/Test Scores and Course Rigor.

In my opinion, among the mid-tier UCs, UCD and UCI are similar in selectivity and UCSB is the least selective. Even with a high GPA and low SAT score, UCSB will still be the least selective (except for certain intended majors). I don’t care that USNews ranks UCSB above UCI. UCI is still above UCSB in selectivity.

Settings: http://i58.■■■■■■■.com/nbuh54.png
UCD: http://i58.■■■■■■■.com/2m7gd1x.png
UCI: http://i58.■■■■■■■.com/1255dee.png
UCSB: http://i60.■■■■■■■.com/mw4j11.png

These scatterplots should make it obvious that UCI is more selective than UCSB in almost all areas.

@niktheslick‌

UCB: http://i60.■■■■■■■.com/2me98ir.png
UCLA: http://i57.■■■■■■■.com/339r47s.png
UCSD: http://i60.■■■■■■■.com/9tgw1g.png

You can use the above scatterplots to determine your chances. Just use your unweighted GPA and divide your SAT score by three. As others have said, the UCs care more about GPA than about SAT scores.

You have good chances for UCSD, UCD, UCI, and UCSB.

UCB and UCLA will be difficult because your unweighted GPA is below 4.0 and your SAT score is below average.

UC Santa Barbara is a match!

Chance back?

UCB-reach
UCLA-reach
UCSD-low reach
UCD-High match
UCI-High match
UCSB-High match
UCSC-low match
UCR-safety
UCM-safety

Could u chance back please… http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1708096-ucla.html#latest

You basically have everything going for you besides that SAT. I think all of the UC’s are well within your range besides UCLA and Berkeley, which are probably moderate reaches. Chance me back please?! http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1703807-chance-me-for-usc-notre-dame-boston-college-duke-georgetown.html#latest

Ill trade you my math for your Cr and Wr ;-;

UCLA/UCB : Reach
but who knows? The admission is kinda weird. Three of my friends applied there last year; two with stellar SAT scores and GPA were waitlisted and rejected, and one with subpar scores like ~1800 was accepted.

@BlakeGrhymes‌ I’d love to lol

Why not take the ACT, just to see what happens? It can’t hurt. Or is there time? Application due in 1-1/2 weeks, but what are last test score acceptance dates?

@ItsJustSchool‌ I took the ACT w/o any preparation and got a 25, which equates to about a 1770 SAT. So I don’t think I’ll submit it. I’ll just live with my mediocre SAT and hope for the best haha. Thanks for the suggestion though

I’d say you’re a match for UCSB. No doubt you’ll be accepted. The only challenges you’re likely to face are UCB and UCLA, however it looks like your transcript might compensate very well for your SAT scores. I’d call them low reaches.
Chance me back?
