Which undergraduate business schools are good for me?

I want to major in finance in a top 50 college. Although I was born in the US, I spent 7 years of my life in another country and English was my second language. I was in ESL until freshman year so I did not get into any honors classes for English.

I also get around a 600 in reading on the SAT although get around 720 in writing and 700 in math in the SAT’s I take at my tutoring place, where I take a full SAT from previous years and get around 1950 on average but up to 2000, which I hope to improve. I took an SAT but haven’t got my score back. I am pretty confident in my SAT but my GPA is what worries me. I started off freshman year badly with a GPA around 2.9 and the same sophomore year. Luckily junior year I got my mind straight and have almost a 3.2 weighted GPA with an AP. I am taking an AP and honors next year and think my GPA will be much higher because I have more room for classes that I’m interested in and good at rather than classes I’m required to take.

I also have extra curricular activities such as going to Scotland and Japan with two different programs as an exchange student, playing soccer on a club team, and I am a boy scout working on my eagle scout rank. I hope to join a precollege program over the summer and I speak fluent Turkish and English, and also take Spanish in school (all 4 years). I am on my school’s debate team and was one of the two teams (consisting of two partners so 4 people in total) recently chosen to go to the JV championships and my partner and I were the team with the best record on the JV team and the championships.

This is a frequently discussed subject; perhaps consulting CC’s archives would provide considerable, pertinent information.

How much will your parents pay each year?

Your GPA and maybe your SAT scores will keep you out of top 50 schools. A 3.2 weighted GPA is going to be a big hurdle. Your senior year grades won’t help much at all, since apps get sent in the fall. At most, only one semester will count, and that will just be averaged in with the other 6 semesters.
