<p>Trying to help my son process his choices of schools to which he's been accepted.
Gotten into SUNY Stony Brook, U Mass Amherst, and Penn State. Supposedly, all 3 have reputable computer science programs. I believe he'd be happiest at U Mass from a social standpoint, and so does he. But I don't know much about this program. Any thoughts?</p>
<p>Can you afford all of them? I think Penn State and UMass have the best programs of the 3.</p>
<p>Money’s not an issue, though U Mass gave him a pretty generous scholarship based on test scores, I’m assuming. With that scholarship, cost would be in line with an in-state SUNY.</p>
<p>All three are reputable for CS.</p>
<p>If he wants to go into patent law from a CS background, note that Stony Brook has ABET accreditation for CS, while the others do not. (ABET accreditation per se is not really important for CS otherwise.)</p>
<p>At 17, I am fairly certain he has no idea what patent law even is at this point. He did express interest in a business minor, though.</p>
