Which university should I choose to attend, University of Texas at Austin vs A&M University vs UT Dallas or University of Houston (computer science)?
Hi I am currently deciding whether to transfer to one of these school’s, right now I am sophomore at a local community college. UT Austin and A&M would lead me towards 30 - 50k of debt while UT Dallas or University of Houston will lead me to graduate with >8k of debt (roughly). Prestige vs Cost?
I would definitely consider going to UT Dallas. The school is known for a great Computer Science program and the school offers good financial aid/ scholarships. There are a lot of tech/software companies in the Dallas area so there will be many internship/job opportunities. I currently go to UH and I would not recommend it for computer science since the program is smaller and not as well established. Hope this helps! Good Luck!!
What kind of college experience do you want, UTD and A&M have totally different vibes. You have not provided your stats so we have no idea what schools you would qualify for.

Decent, my Aunt work at the Guardian and is proof reading my essays for Grammar (no help with content though)
@utcswannabe My DS18 is a high stats kid looking to go into comp sci, he’ll be an auto admit for UT Austin but he’s strongly leaning toward UTD for all the reasons @Shalak890 mentioned. Is grad school in your future? If so I think it would be better to do you undergrad at UTD with low debt and grad school at UT Austin.
DS18 is will likely apply to both UTD and UT Austin just so he can compare the offers but UT Austin is not known for giving much merit aid.
Your chances of getting merit aid would be much higher at UTD than it would be a UT or A&M. UTD does not have a football team and the student body in my opinion seem to be more mature students. UT or A&M will give you more of a typical college experience with tailgating, homecoming, frat/sororities etc. On average UT is liberal while A&M tends to be more conservative. I’m not sure if any of this is important to you but I would suggest you visit all three campuses before making a decision.
i got into UT lol
