Hi everyone, I'm an international student from Santa Monica College. Finishing my last semester in college. I have been wondering which University fits better for me between UC Berkeley for Economics, UCLA for Business/Economics, UCI for Business Administration, UCSD for Economics, and UCD for Economics. My future plan is to get an MBA in a Graduate School, so which one would be my best choice? I already applied to those UC's but can't really decide which one to go if I got accepted. And if possible, can anyone let me know the differences between these two majors. Thanks.

Your undergraduate major does not matter when applying to MBA programs. What does matter is your GPA, GMAT score, and work experience. The main advantage of going to one university over another is that you will have opportunities to get better work experience coming out of a better university.

That said, it is normal to work for about 5 years after completing an undergraduate degree before going back for an MBA and you should decide if an MBA makes sense for you at that point. Penn has the best undergraduate business program in the US and 65% of their students decide not to get an MBA.

The best of these schools for you is UC Berkeley and UCLA is probably the next best. The difference between an economics and business major is that economics is a social science that focuses on how people behave given limited resources, and business is a professional major that you usually choose a concentration in that is meant to teach you skills for operating a business. Many universities, including UC Berkeley offer both economics and business departments, and, at the same university, the business students usually have better job opportunities.

Wow, I really didn’t know anything about that. How about the other UC’s? Thank you so much for the information. I really appreciate it.

Why don’t you apply, see which university you are accepted to, then decide from there.

Which one should be my 3th option UCSD(Economics) or UCI(Business Administration)?
