Hi! So, I recently got accepted to the follow universities for 2013 fall semester as an undergraduate in Petroleum Engineering:-

--West Virginia University
--Montana Tech-University of Montana
--Louisiana State University
--Texas Tech
--University of Oklahoma(haven't got the acceptance yet, but I am sure I will most likely)
--Penn State, University Park(Haven't got the acceptance, but the chances a relatively low)

Now, which University do you think would be the best to pursue my undergrad. Financial Aid ain't very important.
Can you guys rate the above uni, in descending order taking into consideration that I might not (touch wood, not) get into UO or Penn State.

Congratulations on your acceptances. Though, I think, none of the colleges listed by you rank in the top 20 odd in the field, o some research of your own. For rankings, visit
[Country guides, course information and university rankings for undergraduate degrees | Top Universities](http://www.topuniversities.com/)

But rankings are not all that matters. Understand the location, campus, student life, diversity, etc. before making a choice!

As per me, if you get into Penn State, go there!!

Of the ones you listed, I would suggest PSU if you got in - PSU is a top-tier school versus the others listed, which are more regional.

That being said, if you follow-through with Petroleum Engineering, you should base your choice on which universities get recruited from heavily for that field. TX, OK, and LA are both big oil states, and WV is a big mining state - so as a Petro engr., your chances of getting recruited out of those school would be high, so picking a school that is ranked higher among the choices you have would probably be a methodical approach to your question. LSU is a big public institution, and fairly well recognized for Petro / ChemE, so my recommendation based on your list would be LSU. Conversely, WVU is also a big state school - so depending on what field you want to work in, you should evaluate your options.

Definitely Penn State. My friend is there also studying engineering, and he loves it. It’s also the highest ranked school on your list. GL on getting in!
