Wondering which would be better for engineering Calpoly Pomona or a UC like Riverside, Merced or SC

CalPoly IMO.

Why do you think so?

It's a great program. Very good companies recruit there, they have excellent professors and resources. I think it's better than the lower UC's, not as good as a Berkeley, but it's one of the better engineering schools out there, especially for mechanical or aerospace engineering.

I think you're referring to the other Cal Poly - SLO - not Pomona. Pomona is ok.

Still, imo, better than the lower UC's.

Cal Poly Pomona is actually fantastic in engineering. You are right that it is okay in other areas (pretty much everything except for Environmental design is just average).

Pretty much, if you want to be an engineer or an architect - Cal Poly Pomona is a great choice (I went there for engineering). If you are not sure that you want to be an engineer, go somewhere else. By the way, as an undergrad in engineering, CPP offers more electives than most UC type schools. Something to think about.
