I'd easily say Midd. I love Georgetown, but their emphasis is more on the application of the language through politics (SFS), etc.

Yeah, the only reason I was comparing Midd to Georgetown was that I heard from a couple people that Georgetown had great international relations programs (for politics obviously) where there was a stress in foreign language.

Maybe you could post in the Georgetown forum? I'm not an expert, but if given the choice I'd choose Midd over Georgetown if langauge is your priority (though I prefer Georgetown over Midd if you bring in other factors)

zelnick, you don't say if you're male or female. Males stand a better chance than females of getting into small liberal arts colleges, because less men apply. So I'd say Middlebury as well. But don't give up on Georgetown.

George Washington also offers some great programs, and it's getting harder to get into (read more prestigious?) every year.

Yeah, sorry about that, I forgot to state my sex, but I'm a male. I like some of what GW has to offer and its definetely an up-and-coming school, but I'm not blown away by the campus. From what I hear, its in the middle of DC which is great for some people who are looking for an urban environment but I prefer the more traditional campus. Georgetown is a bit more isolated from the city and has more of a serene feel, but from the pictures I saw of Middlebury their campus is gorgeous.

The other factor was that Georgetown was a little closer to me in NJ (3.5 hours by car) compared to Middlebury (7 hours by car) but that shouldn't make or brea k my decision I don't think. I have to get in first lol :P.

Hi -- don't mean to push GW, but my son visited Washington last spring with the plan to spend just an hour there, and ended up spending almost a day. It has two campuses, a nifty urban one in Foggy Bottom, a picturesque part of the city that is walking distance to the shops of Georgetown, and a more traditional, leafy spread a few miles away The show "Crossfire" is taped on the GW campus.

It sounds like you will have some good choices.

Thanks, GW is a huge school too and I sort of want to stay in the 2,000-12,000 student range, if possible. Of course, there are exceptions.
