Which Vocab list performed best on Oct 2011 SAT?

I have seen dark knight's posts about "which vocab list performed best" on different tests. I found them interesting, and since I received my QAS yesterday, I decided to compile one myself.

By my count, there were 15 key vocabulary words to solve the level 4-5 questions in the CR SC section. Feel free to add some more if you wish.

Exonerate, ameliorate, aloof, supercilious, formulaic, edify, reticence, recondite, fallacious, hackneyed, faculty, exacerbated, digressed, mercurial, eschewing.

By words per hit:
1. Direct Hits Vocabulary: 372 words - 13 hits; 28.6 words per hit
2. PR Hit Parade: 250 words - 7 hits; 35.7 words per hit
3. Sparknotes 250 Words: 250 words - 5 hits; 50 words per hit
4. Sesamewords 450 Words: 450 words - 5 hits; 90 words per hit
5. Sparknotes 1000 Words: 1000 words - 8 hits; 125 words per hit
6. Rocket Review Core Words: 323 words - 2 hits; 161.5 words per hit
7. Barron's 3500 Words: 3500 words - 14 hits; 250 words per hit

By hit list:
1. Barron's 3500 Words: 3500 words - 14 hits; 250 words per hit
2. Direct Hits Vocabulary: 372 words - 13 hits; 28.6 words per hit
3. Sparknotes 1000 Words: 1000 words - 8 hits; 125 words per hit
4. PR Hit Parade: 250 words - 7 hits; 35.7 words per hit

Doesn’t Direct Hits have around 402 vocab entries?

Direct Hits has 400 words and got 13
While Barrons has 3500 words and got 14
Conclusion : study DH then move on to other books if u feel u need to know more vocab

So basically, DH is the best vocab list there is for CR. Well, I already know that. I memorized it, and got 18/19 correct for October.

So yeah, I wholeheartedly recommend DH for an 800 in CR.

@SirWanksalot
I just missed that “faculty…emotion” SC and got 18/19 correct for October too!
Ehhhh so stupid - I omitted the problem… :o

@JefferyJung
Thank you for your hard work! It certainly helped!

actually DH doesn’t really have only 200 words… they sometimes count synonyms as one word. but still it has fewer words than many other lists and it is easy to memorize. ;)

DH has 417 words total. (synonyms). However, the vocab list I used to check only had 372 words… Sorry about that…!

DH missed recondite and faculty.

Perhaps http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/sat-preparation/1191190-top-400-vocabulary-words.html</a> might be another good vocab list to go off of.

Interesting… I was actually doing this… :)

SATwriter’s Top 400+ Vocab list: 412 words - 6 hits; 68.7 words per hit
SATwriter’s entire list: 1305 words - 12 hits; 108.8 words per hit

This is actually a surprise to me. I expected this list to cover all 15 words…

You guys seem to be missing the point! Direct hit got only 13 while Barron’s 3400 got 14. Now who would not memorize 3400 words for that one word??? ;)

Brilliant! Yup, DH.

DH – which DH book are you referring to – the primary book or also the adanced DH vocab together?

Volume 1 and 2 together. There should be about 400-420 words or so.
